Thousand Year old Artefacts found in Qinglong. Shanghai

Strong evidence has been found to prove that Qinglong town, located in Shanghai's Qingpu district was famous for its fish trade, back during the Tang dynasty almost more than 100 years ago. Excavations have been going on since 6 years and this is an important find. Remains of an octagon shaped Longping pagoda dating back to the northern Song dynasty were discovered.

Longping pagoda was larger than each of the thirteen ancient pagodas that exist in Shanghai today. After some more digging, an underground vault was found with ten thousand ancient coins dating to the Tang and Song dynasties, and two four-layer cases.

A lot of porcelain was also found near the site and archaeologists believe that there was a light-house for maritime trading at that spot. Porcelain was first transported to Qinglong town, stored in warehouses and then sent to Korea and Japan. They also concluded that Qinglong town after Emporer Tianbao's reign survived the Tang and Song dynasties before waterways changed under the Yuan dynasty.

Research of the artefacts found at the site is still going on.
