An Artist Meets his Subject - Pope Francis

A 37-year-old Spanish artist Raul Berzosa Fernandez had made a painting featuring Pope Francis which was featured on a €1 commemorative stamp celebrating the pope’s 80th birthday released on 17th November. The same original painting was recently presented to the pope by the artist.The detailed and realistic painting features the pope giving a blessing with the Bernini baldachin over the main alter in St. Peter’s Basilica; Our Lady of Lujan, patroness of Argentina; and a light symbolising the Holy Spirit. The painting is showcased at the Vatican Museum.
