The Russian state of Goznak recently announced that six design options have been prepared for a 100-ruble note celebrating soccer’s World Cup in 2018 that is hosted by Russia. Two more commemorative banknotes were issued by Russia earlier, one for the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 and the second for the illegal takeover of Crimea in 2015.Officials said that the new Russian notes will be made of plastic or a composite celebrating the history of football and Russia’s involvement in the World Cup. The notes will be printed in mid-2017 and will be available before the event in June.
