Malta’s Numismatic Coin Program for 2017 features the following products:The Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU that will be inaugurated in January 2017 will be depicted on a silver commemorative coin, expected to be released in January.
Under the Europa Coin Program, a gold and silver coin will be celebrating 'Age of Iron and Glass'. The coins will feature the conservatory constructed in the Argotti Botanic Gardens, but the iron and glass structure does not exist today. These coins will be issued in March 2017.
Eight Maltese euro circulation coins and a €2 commemorative coin celebrating Maltese prehistoric structures to be issued in June 2017.
The Hagar Qim temples will be featured on a €2 commemorative coin which is expected to be released in July 2017.
The 75th anniversary of Operation Pedestal or the ‘Santa Maria’ Convoy will be celebrated on a silver coin that will be released in August 2017.
A €2 commemorative coin depicting the winning design of a national level competition among secondary school students, featuring the 2017 theme ‘Peace.’ is expected to be issued in November 2017.
