Russian Company Gets Patent for Counterfeit-proof Value Document in Mumbai

Paper required for producing Indian currency notes is supplied by a Russian company named Goznak. It is one of the 8 companies which got the contract. The company has got the patent to improve their protection against counterfeiting using a fluorescent substance with visual and computer-readable properties.In May 2011, the patent application related to the protection against counterfeiting, authenticating printed products such as banknotes, excise marks, paper securities, postage stamps and labels, was filed at the Patent Office in Mumbai. The improved hidden security features make use of inorganic fluorescent compounds, unlike the known fluorescent compounds based on rear earth elements.
Goznak had received the contract for supplying paper for producing 50-rupee notes in 2011.
