The Royal Canadian Mint’s 2016 Lucky 1/4 oz 99.99% pure proof finish silver Loonie depicts a common loon with an interestingly portrayed maple leaf in the background. The coin was released in the middle of the year in 2016 and 91% of the total 15,000 coins are already sold. The coin can be purchased for CAD $39.95 and it has received impressive customer reviews.The reverse features a loon on the water about to fly, a maple leaf and a Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Team logos. The Lucky Loonie coin was first struck in 2004 to celebrate Canada at every summer and winter Games. The 2016 Lucky Loonie features a unique design with the words LUCKY LOONIE / DOLLAR PORTE-BONHEUR. Obverses feature the common portrait or Queen Elizabeth along with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, D G REGINA, and DOLLAR.
The coins come in special packaging. 5-coin packs and special wrap rolls are also available.
