The World Paper Money Department of Stack’s Bowers Galleries is going to organise its first 2017 January New York International (NYINC) Auction at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Some extremely rare, some of the finest and only known notes for the type are going to be offered at the event.The finest ever Iranian 50 and 100 Tomans notes issued by the Imperial Bank of Persia are being offered. The 50 Tomans is payable at Teheran only and the 100 Tomans features a rarer Kermanshah overprint. One of the 500 known and the finest graded, uncancelled example of the 5 Rupees Zanzibar banknote from 1908 is offered at the auction as well. South American specimens and 36 Iranian specimens that belonged to a close advisor to the Shah are also some of the major highlights. Others include the finest known Rhino and Zebra notes from Burundi. The difficult to collect, Qatar and Dubai 25 Riyals note is also up for sale along with rare Specimen Proofs from the Bank of France, and some replacements from the Philippines.
