Today on 27th December 1926 the imperial airways scheduled the first air service between India and the United Kingdom.

The Imperial Airways was established to make travel between the British colonies easy and quicker. The inauguration of this airlines resulted in the creation of different air routes within the empire. This made the governance and trade easier which was done by the ships till date.

Between 1925 to 1926, the imperial service routes were made and later the flight schedules were announced. But to establish a well-serviced structure it took two more years and in 1929 the first airmail service was launched between India and England.

This is the first airmail which was sent from Croydon airport London to Karachi and then it went to Calcutta by the surface mail. The flight flew from London to Alexandra and then to Karachi on DH 66 Hercules the airmail carrier plan.
