A stroke of art on Swiss banknotes!

Some banknotes are really amazing in terms of their designs! We have seen banknotes flaunting their flora-fauna, their culture and heritage and some also sport famous artists and their artworks on them. Here’s another such fabulous note.

This 100 Swiss Francs banknote of 1998 issue has a famous Swiss sculptor, painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, Alberto Giacometti and one of his famous sculptures!

Alberto Giacometti was the eldest son of the neo-impressionist painter, Giovanni Giacometti. He was interested in art right from a young age and he produced his first oil painting (Still Life with Apples, c. 1915) and first sculpted bust (Diego, c. 1914-1915) in his father's studio at the age of fourteen!

The note features Alberto Giacometti’s portrait on the obverse and his famous sculpture “'Homme qui marche' a series cast bronze sculptures by Alberto. The 2nd edition this sculpture, on 3 February 2010, one of the most expensive works of art ever sold at auction, and the most expensive sculpture, until May 2015, when another Giacometti work, L'Homme au doigt, was honoured the first place!

L'Homme Qui Marche is considered to be one of the most important works by the artist and one of the most iconic images of Modern art.
