Established on December 21, 1911, Central Bank of India was India’s first commercial bank wholly owned and managed by Indians. The bank was the dream and brainchild of Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala and Sir Pherozesha Mehta the first Chairman of a truly “Swadeshi Bank”. The bank can be described as an All India Bank as it is present in 27 states and 6 union territories and has 4741 branches, 178 extension counters, 10 Satellite Offices, 5000 ATM’s besides overseas offices at Nairobi, Hong Kong, etc with its headquarters in Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
