2016-12-07 Wed
A VF-35 1803 Draped Bust Half Dollar, struck 10 percent off-center was sold for $5,405 at the Long Beach auction on 7th September. Early error coins struck 3 to 5 percent off-centre are not very easily found and so this particular one becomes a very rare example. It is struck 10 percent off-centre at 7:00 relative to the obverse. The bottom of the date and the top of STATES on the reverse are missing and a considerably big area of the unstruck planchet is seen. It has evenly worn surfaces, steel grey colour and some marks here and there.
