The Perth Mint issued new high relief Australian Lunar 1-ounce silver coin which celebrates the Year of the Rooster.People born in the year 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, and 2017 are ruled by the Chinese Lunar rooster. It is believed that they are hardworking, loyal, honest, and sociable.
Maximum flow if the metal is achieved during the strike as the coin’s high relief obverse and reverse are minted on concave surfaces.
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II along with the inscriptions, 2017, AUSTRALIA, and the denomination.
The reverse depicts a rooster, a hen, and three chicks standing amongst bamboo foliage and flowers. Other inscriptions on the reverse include “rooster” in Chinese, YEAR OF THE ROOSTER and Perth Mint’s traditional P Mint mark.
The coin comes in a special packaging along with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage limit of the Proof .9999 fine, 31.107 grams silver dollar is 7,500 pieces and it is priced at $73.88.
