Do not demand to love, Begin to love. You will be loved.
- C. Rajagopalachar

Chakravarti Rajagoplachari also called as ‘Rajaji’ was the last Viceroy of Independent India from 1948 to 1950. He was a great thinker and patriot and participated in Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha campaign. In 1921, he was the General Secretary of the Indian national congress and was also in its working committee.

Rajaji’s elevation to the highest office of the country was recognition of his distinguished services to the country by a grateful nation and a tribute to his outstanding capabilities. He was the minister of Home affairs from 1950-1951 and in 1954 he was awarded the highest honour of the Indian land - 'Bharat Ratna' for his great services to the nation.

He was a strong believer of pacifism and an uncompromising critic of nuclear weapons and carried on an incessant campaign against the use of atom bombs. Rajaji wrote a number of books all of which had a deep moral significance to the conflict-torn world. Rajaji preached the idea that civilisation based on materialism was self-destructive. The cultivation of moral values alone could provide a durable foundation for the civilisation.

Rajagopalachari beautifully wrote the Voice of the Uninvolved, Kambaramayan- Ayodhya Kandam which are profound and his Mahabharata, Ramayana are full of beauty and excellence. His book “Hinduism- Doctrines and Way of Life” is an elaboration of his views on "Vedanta".

To praise and respect this adorn son of India P & T Department issued a commemorative stamp in 1973 on the occasion of his first death anniversary which was printed by Indian security press.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru paid tribute to Rajagopalachari in his Autobiography. He wrote, “Rajaji’s brilliant intellect, selfless character and penetrating powers of analysis have been tremendous assets to our cause".
