Hello Kitty Stamps Issued by SingPost for SJ50

The 50 years of diplomatic ties between Singapore and Japan or SJ50 was celebrated by Singapore Post with the release of new Hello Kitty MyStamp set on 29th October. Only a limited number of 3000 stamps were issued and the set consists of a stamp sheet in a hard cover folder, two postcards and a paper bag depicting the special SJ50 version of Japan’s Hello Kitty in a pink kimono. Each country’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid and Sakura, was also featured as a motif in the background.The set is portrayed a Hello Kitty’s travelogues in Japan and Singapore. It meets Singapore’s SJ50 mascot - Doritan, a boy in durian-like headgear and a red jumpsuit with an image of the Merlion. A set of six stamps can be purchased for S$21.80, each with a face value of S$1.10.
The launch event was organised with the SJ50 Matsuri event at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza courtyard. The stamps will be available at all post offices, the Singapore Philatelic Museum and online.
