2016-11-24 Thu

Mississippi became a part of the USA on 10th December 1817. To mark the 200th anniversary of this glorious occasion, a Forever stamp will be released by the U.S. Postal Service. The stamp features a closeup of a blues guitar player since Mississippi is considered to be the birthplace of the blues.

The photographer Lou Bopp is from the Midwest and lives in New York City and the stamp was designed by Greg Breeding, art director for the U.S. Postal Service.

Officials have not yet revealed the exact date for the stamp's release.
