This stamp of twenty-five rupee value of King Edward VII was issued on 1920 AD.

At the start of Twentieth century, the world saw the end of an era and start of another, where outlooks, opinions and fashion of society were changing. It was an end of Queen Victoria’s reign and King Edward VII ascended the throne of Great Britain and her commonwealths.

This new series of stamps was issued in India at the turn of the twentieth century. These stamps depicted the portrait of King Edward VII which were continued for few years and were printed in various denominations up to 25 rupees value.

This particular stamp depicts the portrait of King Edward VII with the crown above the portrait. The 25 Rupee value is seen on both sides of the portrait and the colour of the stamp is brownish orange and blue. It was printed in Calcutta (Kolkata) with single star watermark on it. These high-value stamps were used for the payment of telegraph & parcel fees

The Rs.1 stamp issued in 1902 is most sought out by collector because it is very valuable. It also became valuable because at one time the fake stamp of 25 rupees of Edward VII stamps were in circulation.

King Edward VII's reign only lasted for Nine years , making his stamps, coins and paper money very valuable and rare and worthy of any collectors collection. But the stamps of 1902 of Edward VII will be Jewel in the collection like India was in the British Crown.
