2016-11-19 Sat
After the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes created some unrest and hindrances in the common man’s life, people from Ludhiana had to face another problem due to the rumours that Rs 10 coins were also banned. Shopkeepers refused to accept Rs 10 coins, as per official reports from markets in Sarabha Nagar, Mall Road, Model Town and Rajguru Nagar, among other localities of the city. Many such incidents have been reported in different parts of the city, where not just shopkeepers but rikshaw-wallas have also stopped accepting these coins. This keeps happening even after RBI had declared that Rs 10 coins are still in circulation and anybody who refuses to accept them can face legal action.
