Philatelic Exhibition JALPEX-2016

A two-day philatelic exhibition was held on 17th November at Virsa Vihar, Civil Lines Road. The-once in-4-year event is called JALPEX-2016 and it was the 34th district-level philatelic exhibition organised by Jalandhar postal division and Jullundur philatelic club.Various collections of stamps belonging to different themes like historical periods, Olympics, species arts, zodiac signs, universities, sports, personalities, culture, science and biodiversity, were put on display.
The event attracted many students who were keen to take a look at the old currency, cartoon characters’ stamps, vintage cars’ stamps and historical monuments’ stamps. Many of them attended a philatelic exhibition for the first time in life.
Nawal K Khera, a local philatelist, who is the oldest member of the Jullundur philatelic club spoke about how he started collecting stamps at a very young age in 1951. Another experienced collector Anurag Verma said that educational institutes should promote this hobby as the youth is losing interest in it.
