Egyptian Mocked stamp: Suez Canal

The Suez Canal is actually the first canal that directly links the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.

Though it was opened for navigation on 17th November 1869 but the original initiatives are seen from the ancient period. The first attempt of digging this goes back to 1874 B.C. by the King Senauser III, Pharaoh of Egypt and since then it is continued.

To know the detail history of the construction of Suez Canal we have to study the Old dynasty of Ancient Egypt.

Because of its unique geographical location, Suez Canal is the shortest link between east and west. It has a special place in the maritime history and international trade. It is the longest canal in the world without any locks.

The construction of this canal have saved the time, cost and distance. The Canal has also faced a various ups and down but at the end it has overcome all the major issues. It won’t be wrong in saying ‘Suez Canal is a gift to the World’.

In order to commemorate this great historical water way, Egypt issued a three se-tenant stamp of 2£ in 2014.

The second stamp does not depict the Suez Canal; instead it is an image of Panama Canal of the Central America. It was a huge embarrassment faced by Egypt and the stamp was mocked on the Social media.

Well but nonetheless, the Panama Canal in itself is another marvel! But is it correct to make mistakes as such?
