Bahamani Sultan's Coin Sold For 1, 50,000

This coin was minted by Ghiyath Al-Din Tahmatan Shah (AH799; AD 1397). Ghiyath Al-Din Tahmatan Shah was a sultan of Bahmani Kingdom.The Bahmani Kingdom was a Muslim State in Deccan. It was the first independent Islamic kingdom of south India. It was established by Ala-ud-din Bahman Shah after revolting against Delhi Sultanate of Muhammad bin Tughluq.
Ghiyath Al-Din Tahmantan Shah Succeeded Muhammad Shah II. He issued coins in silver and copper. Both his coins - silver tanka and copper fulus are rare. Silver tankas were minted in Hadrat Ahsanabad mint. Copper fulus are similar to Muhammad Shah II in terms of weight and style.
This silver tanka reads as “Tahmantan Shah Al-Sultan bin Al-Sultan” in the obverse and “Al-Mustawthiq billah Al-hannan Abu'l Muzaffar Ghiyath Al-Dunya Wa’l Din’ in the reverse. Mint name and Date is not clearly visible on the coin.
This coin was sold for INR 1, 50,000, weighs around 10.8gm at Todywalla Auction held in New Delhi on 23rd October 2010.
