Amazing Artworks from Coins Made by Engraver

2016-11-07 Mon

A collection of artwork on coins featuring Prince and Abraham Lincoln on the toilet etc has been created by a 53-year-old engraver named Shaun Hughes from Essex. He started doing this after running a jewellery repair shop for 15 years. He is an inspiration to many youngsters today who want to pursue engraving professionally.

Some of his most amazing works include a portrait of the musician Prince on a US quarter, Abraham Lincoln sitting on a toilet on a US penny and Roman centurion carved onto a 1,000-year-old Constantine Roman coin.

He also creates videos when he is at work to teach youngsters about this unique art. He believes that anybody can take up engraving; the only thing that’s required is practice, dedication and hard work. You have to lean over and work for more than 8 hours which could lead to back pain and wrist pain as well.

He took help of a small worldwide community named The Original Hobo Nickel Society and The Love Token Society.

Microscopes are used by modern engravers to make more accurate and interesting designs.

Hughes can sometimes work for 12 hours and still not get exhausted.
