2016-10-28 Fri

Canada issued a new 2016 Proof .9999 fine silver $20 coin and a 2017 Proof .9999 fine gold $250 coin celebrating the beautiful colours of autumn.

The reverse design for the silver coin created by Canadian artist Tony Bianco is made of rich orange colours of the maple branches and a footbridge above a stream in the background. Emily Damstra created the reverse design of the gold $250 coin depicting a view from below of the maple canopy with intricately designed fissures and ridges. Colours represent the colours of the season like deep crimson red to the lightest yellow. Three falling maple leaves are featured in different shades. Other inscriptions include 250 DOLLARS, CANADA, and 2017. The obverse depicts the Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

The mintage limit of the 2016 $20 31.39 grams coin is 6,000 pieces and it can be purchased for $72.95. If you buy more than 6 coins then each one would cost $69.95. The mintage limit of the 2017 62.34 grams gold coin is 150 pieces and it can be purchased for $3,999.95.
