Shams Al-Din Muzaffar Shah Coin Sold for 55,000

Shams Al-Din Muzaffar II (717-932; AD 1511-1525) was the Sultan of Gujarat. He succeeded Nasir Al-Din Mahmud I.One of the main changes which he had introduced during his reign was the introduction of 64 rati standard for the silver issues which weighs around 7.0-7.2 gm. He has issued them in gold, silver, and copper.
One of his gold Tanka which weighs around 11.3gm was sold for INR 55,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery in Auction held on 7th August 2015. The obverse of the coin read as “Al-Muayyad Al-Rahman Shams Al-Dunya Wa Al-Din Abu Nasir’ the meaning of ‘Al-Muayyad bi-tayid Al –Rahman ‘is ‘he who trust in the support of the merciful one’, and the reverse of the coin reads as “Muzaffar shah bin Muhammad Shah Al-Sultan” Date 924 is visible at the bottom of the coin. Mint name on the coin is not clearly visible.
