Flags on Stamps

Flags contribute greatly to the identity of a Nation. When featured on stamps they definitely portray their unique value. Many such flags are featured on stamps to commemorate their importance on various occasions. Here are few examples:“Tiranga” – The Indian Tricolour is featured on stamp shortly after India achieved Independence. Issued in Nov 1947 the stamp comes with the denomination of 3.50 Annas depicting The Tiranga waving freely on the background of clear blue sky.
The flag of Canada is featured on a commemorative postage stamp. The 50 pence stamp was issued to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the day when the Canadian flag was first raised on the Parliament.
The French Flag has made a unique appearance on a 5 cents stamp issued by USA. This stamp was issued to commemorate Mary Cassatt. Mary Cassatt was an American citizen who later became the top most painter of French Impressionism. Hence, this particular stamp features French Flag on USA postage stamp.
There are so many reasons to put a Flag on Stamp!
