Highly Graded and Nicely Toned 1932-D Washington Quarter Dollar Sold For $7,637

A key dated 1932-D Washington quarter dollar issued in the first year graded MS-65 was sold for $7,637.50 at the Heritage Auction this October in Dallas. The Auction made a total of $8.5 million and topping the sale was a 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar graded Very Fine 25, which was sold for $146,875.

The coin was issued at the Denver Mint and has a comparatively low mintage of 436,800. It was the first year of John Flanagan’s new Washington quarter dollar design. It had original toning, with russet-red and sea-green patina on both sides without any abrasions.

Three MS-65 graded coins were offered and the most expensive had deep olive-green and gold toning which sold for $8,225. Another coin with light gold dappled coloration on the obverse was sold for $7,343.75.
