Rare Chinese Overprint stamp to be Auctioned in November

China’s rare 1912 $5 green and salmon stamp with black “provisional neutrality” overprint will be offered at an auction by Kelleher and Rogers in Wan Chai, Hong Kong on 5th and 6th November. The unused stamp has its original gum and features rich distinct colours. Only 52 examples have been issued so far. The stamp stands at an estimate value of Hong Kong $50,000 to $60,000.Apart from this beauty, two die proofs of the East China 1949 Nantung print Chairman Mao issue printed on thin tissue paper, in $2,000 and $5,000 denominations, respectively will also be offered. The 1958 8-fen imperforate Heroes Monument souvenir sheet is another item to look out for. Many 1967 11-stamp Thoughts of Mao complete sets and the 1967-68 Poems set, the 1968 Directives set, and others are also up for sale.
Two rare and used examples of the 1968 8f The Whole Country is Red withdrawn stamp are offered. The popular 1980 8f Year of the Monkey stamp with its red background and 10 different unused singles and a neat corner margin block of four, as well as a horizontal block of eight are up for grabs.
