Coin of Short lived Sultan of Tughluq Dynasty

When Muhammad Bin Tughluq died at Sind, Firuz Shah Tughluq was accepted as the next ruler by the army of Sind.For the first time, Delhi sultanate came in a situation when no one was ready to accept the reign of power. Khwaja-i-Jahan who was wazir of Muhammad Bin Tughluq placed a small boy name Mahmud on the throne claiming him as the son of Muhammad Bin Tughluq. When Firuz Shah Tughluq returned to Delhi from Sind, Mahmud was removed from the throne.
During this period some coins were struck in the name of Mahmud in gold, silver and billion. One of his gold tanka was sold at INR 55,000 at Todywalla Auction held at Mumbai on 20th August 2016. This Gold Tanka Weighs around 11g. The legend on the coin reads as “Mahmud Shah bin Muhammad Shah bin Tughluq Shah Al-Sultan” and “Yamin amir al-Mu minin Ghiyath Al-Dunya Wa Al-din Ahul Muzaffar” on the reverse.
