Historically significant gold watches and accessories from authors and railroad historians Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg was offered for sale by a New York–based auction and appraisal company called Doyle on 13th September. Beebe published many books on railroad history, and many other books in collaboration with his partner Clegg.A gold belt featuring 16 U.S. Liberty Head Double Eagle $20 gold coins and signed “Morgan Smith” had an estimated price of $20,000–$30,000. Apart from that, a gold cigarette case by Cartier had an estimated value of $5,000–$7,000, a platinum open-face pocket watch by Cartier had an estimated price of $3,000–$4,000 and a golden nugget watch fob chain had an estimated price of $5,000–$7,000.
