‘Pedigree’ coins are those that mention at least two of the present ruler’s predecessors, i.e. coin include three legends , name of the ruler, and two more names of his predecessors.Ahmad Shah I of Gujarat Sultanate had issued a pedigree gold tanka. This Coin weighs around 11.19gm. The obverse of the coin reads as “Ahmad Shah bin Muhammad Shah bin Muzaffar Shah Khulidat Khilafatahu” written within the square and date 831 (written in words) in the margin. Reverse of the coin is inscribed as “Al-Wathiq bi Allah al-Musata'an al-Sultan al-Azam Nasir al-Dunya wa al-Din Abu al-Fath” meaning “the believer in Allah, the one whose help is sought.
One such pedigree gold tanka of Gujarat Sultanate was sold for 9, 50,000 at Classical Numismatics Gallery on 7th August 2015.This Coin is Extremely rare with a very fine condition.
