Paintings of Bosch Celebrated on New Dutch Coins

A Proof .900 fine gold €10 commemorative coin was issued by Netherlands to observe the 500th death anniversary of the painter Jheronimus Bosch. This would be the second commemorative coin program by Netherland this year and would coincide with the various other national level activities to remember this great painter.Jeroen or Hieronymus Bosch was also known as “den duvelmakere” (the devil maker). His works like seduction, sin and judgment depict illusions, hallucinations, bizarre monsters and devilish nightmares.
The sale of the coin began on 23rd August and the first striking event was scheduled on 16th September.
The reverse design features details from several of Bosch’s paintings. Four versions of the coin are available each with a colour on different elements of the design. The obverse features a portrait of King Willem-Alexander with a mirror finish. The acting mint master’s star privy mark is also included.
Proof .900 fine gold €10, Proof .925 fine silver €5 coin in plain, or colorized four different ways in a four-coin set. These are the first coloured coins issued by the Royal Dutch Mint. All the coins are numbered with a matching certificate of authenticity. The Brilliant Uncirculated silver-plated copper €5 version is available in collector cards or in rolls.
All the versions have a different mintage limit.
