This Gold Illahi mohur of Emperor Akbar’s does not consist date or the mint mark.

Emperor Akbar was the third Ruler of the Mughal Dynasty to ascend on the Throne of Delhi, he was the one to establish a strong empire in India, which lasted for many coming Decade. His reign changed the reflection of Indian Politics, economy, trade, culture and coinage.

This Illahi type heavy mohur is around 12.11g is a good example of such reflection. The obverse of this coin consists a triple circle (middle line is dotted) near the rim, inside it is a double square within a wavy border which reads “Allah uh Akbar”. Its reverse features a triple circle surrounding a double square without the mint mark or date. It reads “Jal Jallala” with floral background and it also bears a countermarked number '30' at the bottom.

This coin is perhaps the earliest Ilahi type Gold Mohur of Akbar with the countermarked year '30' which is the earliest reference to the Ilahi reckoning system which subsequently became a major feature of Akbar's coinage.

This gold illahi mohur of Akbar is extremely rare and is in about very fine condition which was sold for astonishing price of INR 8, 00,000 by Classical Numismatics Gallery on 12 December 2013.
