2018 Winter Olympic Games Commemorative Coins

The official designs for the WOG commemorative coinage were revealed by the organisers of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea on 22nd September. South Korean skating champion Kim Yu-na who is also the ambassador for the Games, did the honours of unveiling the coins.The coins will be issued by Korea Minting and will include gold issues, eight silver issues, and one brass issue. Poongsan Hwadong, the domestic distributor of the coins for every Summer Olympics held outside South Korea since 1984, every Winter Olympics since 1988, and every FIFA World Cup since 1994, would be official distributors for the new coins as well. Apart from that, there are many other overseas distributors as well.
Pre-ordering will begin from September 26 to October 7. The first set of 290,500 coins will be struck in November and its distribution will begin from December.
