2016 Standing Liberty Centennial Gold Coin Sale Report

2016-09-27 Tue

The sale of the centennial Standing Liberty .9999 fine 24-karat gold quarter began on 8th September 2016. On the first day, 47.9% of the available 100,000 coins were already ordered. 54,876 coins have been sold as of 18th September.

The 25-cent coin design celebrates the 100th anniversary of a similar Standing Liberty design that was originally introduced by sculptor Hermon A. MacNeil’s for circulation in 1916.

It’s the second of three 2016-dated gold coins that celebrate the coin designs. The first one was the gold Mercury dime that was released on 21st April. Within 40 minutes, all the coins allotted on the launch day were sold. As of now, the numbers stand at 116,096 of the originally allotted 125,000 coins.

The next in line is the 1916 Walking Liberty half-dollar which will be released within a few months.
