Legal Action to be Taken Against Those Refusing to Accept 10 Rs Coins

The Reserve Bank of India has officially announced that Rs 10 coin are still in circulation and a legal action would be taken against people who are refusing to accept it due to the looming rumours of its ban.It all began with a WhatsApp message and the hoax instantly spread across different parts of Delhi and north India. Shopkeepers, kiosks owners and auto rickshaw drivers have been returning R10 coins and asking for currency notes after the fake news went viral.
RBI spokesperson Alpana Kilawala has personally confirmed the fact that these 10 Rs coins are still a legal tender.
Some rumours state that fake coins of two designs have hit the market and others mention that the RBI has withdrawn the ones that are in circulation. These rumours also stated that the gold polish was coming off.
The RBI issued a new R10 coin in June, six years after it was introduced.
