Did you know that Democratic Republic of Congo had a big hole in their currency notes?Democratic Republic of Congo, a country located in Central Africa used to be known as Zaire from 1971 to 1997. It is the second largest country in Africa area wise.
Joseph Mobutu who ruled the country until he was overthrown in 1997 was depicted on the countries banknotes. When he was overthrown by the new government instead of producing brand new currency notes, the new government decided to punch holes in old money to get rid of his face – that resulted in producing banknotes with holes in them!
