1930s Coin Board Sold for More than Double its Previous Record

2016-09-23 Fri

On 20th September, a board of Lincoln cents by Earl & Koehler was sold for $569 on ebay, which is a record price for any coin collecting board that’s sold on the online portal. Experts say that the hammer price is more than twice that of a similar board which was sold 2 years back. The coinless board was sold by South Park Coins of Forney, Texas to an anonymous buyer.

E&K brand is supposed to be the rarest among the seven publishers of large coin boards during the years 1935 to 1948. Only four titles were offered by this Portland, Ore., company which were printed in 1939. It is one of three such existing boards and grades Very Fine.

A similar example was sold 2 years back for $230 in a private sale.
