Malwa Sultan's Hexagonal Coin Sold for a Whopping Price!

In India, we find varieties of coins in different shapes, viz., Square, Octagonal, Hendecagonal, Larin, Bent bar, Meharabi and even Triangular other than usual round shaped coin!Sultans of Malwa in medieval time experimented with various shapes, viz., square, mihrabi, diamond, Octagonal etc. One coin issued by Nasir Shah is Hexagonal. This coin is an extremely rare silver tanka which weighs around 4.4 gram. One such coin was sold at the Hammer price of INR 9,25,000 at Todywalla Auction held in February 2016.
The obverse of the coin has inscription reading from top “Nasir shah bin Ghiyas Shah Al Sultan Al Khalji Khald Malkahu” and the date AH915 is written at the bottom left corner. On the reverse side of the coin has a beautiful ornate design.
