New Zealand to Issue New Mickey Mouse Coins

The latest coin under the “Mickey Through the Ages” series by New Zealand Mint would feature the 1938 Mickey Mouse cartoon, “Brave Little Tailor” which was based on Grimm’s fairy tale and was nominated for the Academy Awards. A 99.9% silver one-ounce coloured coin, a 1/2-gram 99.99% gold coin, a 1/4-ounce 99.99% gold coin, and a one-ounce 99.99% gold coin would be issued featuring the same design.The reverse features Mickey Mouse from the film; preparing to leave town to fight a giant. Other inscriptions include DISNEY, BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR, 1938, and the weight and fineness of the metal. The one-ounce silver coin bears a coloured Mickey Mouse; costs $85 and has a mintage limit of 10,000 pieces. The 1/2-gram gold coin features the same design without any colour; costs $75 and has a mintage limit of 5,000 coins. The 1/4-ounce costs $620 and is limited to 1,000 pieces; the one-ounce coin costs $2,500 and has a mintage limit of 500.
Obverses feature the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, 2016, NIUE and denomination.
