Traikutaka ruled parts of Konkan, southern Gujarat (aparanta) and adjacent areas after the decline of the Western Kshatrapas. The dynasty’s name possibly derives from “Tri-kuta” (three-peaked mountain), referring to their capital or territory.

The coin's reverse has Trikuta parvata at the centre with a river below as depicted on Western Kshatrapa coins around Brahmi legend, sometimes incomplete
