Bengal Presidency Gold Mohur

The Bengal Presidency also referred to as the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a significant subdivision of the British Empire in India. It held great colonial importance within British India. Today, the Bengal Presidency is divided into Bangladesh and several states of India.This gold mohur was issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II in the Hijri year 1202, during the 19th year of his reign. The obverse is inscribed as AH-1202 and Shah Alam Badshah in Persian reading from the bottom in ornamented field. The reverse is inscribed as Zarb Murshidabad in Persian in the ornamented field, Crescent.
