Gold Mohur of Muhammad Akbar Minted in Jaunpur

Jaunpur, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, was once governed by the Sharqi dynasty.Muhammad Akbar minted gold, silver and copper coins regularly from Jaunpur between 964 AH and 989 AH. He issued this gold mohur weighing 10.83g minted at Dar ul-Khilafat Jaunpur. The obverse features the legend ‘Al Sultan Al Azam Khallad Allah Taala Mulkahu Wa Saltanate in margins. Mint name Zarb Dar ul-Khilafat Jaunpur and AH date 978’. The reverse is inscribed with Kalima.
