Vijayanagar, a powerful kingdom in South India, was founded by two brothers, Harihara and Bukka, on the south bank of the River Tungabhadra in 1336 AD. The kingdom is still remembered for its great administration and massive architecture.A Gold Pratap Half-Hon, 1.70g, belonging to the Vijayanagar Emperor Krishnadevaraya was sold for INR 232000 in an auction held in Mumbai on 5th May 2024.
The obverse features Lord Balakrishna seated facing, Conch to right & Discus to left, a string of flowers above. The reverse features Three-line Devanagari legend 'Sri Pra/ ta pa Kra Shna/ ra ya.
