Silver Drachm of Rudrasimha I

Rudrasimha I was a Western Kshatrapas king who ruled from 178 to 197 CE. Rudrasimha I started issuing coins bearing the Saka date on the obverse behind the king's head in Brahmi numerals.Rudrasimha I issued this silver drachm, 1.99g, during his rule. The obverse of this silver drachm features the bust of the king facing right, blundered Greek legend around and date behind the head. The reverse of the coin features three arched hills with a crescent, sun to left and moon to right in the centre and the Brahmi legend Mahakshatrapasa Rudradamaputrasa (Rajño Maha)kshatrapasa Rudrasihasa around.
