The Anglo-Bhopal treaty signed between East India Company and Nawab Nazar Muhammad (the Bhopal ruler from 1816 to 1819) made Bhopal a princely state in British India. Bhopal was merged with the union territory of India in 1949. On 1st November 1956, as the effect of the Reorganization of the states on a linguistic basis, Bhopal became part of Madhya Pradesh.

Sikandar Jahan Begum of Princely State Bhopal issued this silver Nazarana Double Rupee, 21.78g, inscribed with the Kalima, La Ilaha Illa Allahu Mummad-Ur-Rasulullaha within square within the square and AH year 128x on both obverse and reverse.
