Bakht Buland Shah aka Bhagtu was the younger son of Gond king Gorakh Shah of Devagadh. Converted to Islam to get the favour of the Mughals, Bakht Buland Shah later rebelled. He conquered Chand kingdom consisting of Nagpur and adjacent regions. Chand Kingdom was conquered by Raghuji Bhosle I in 1751 and became part of the Maratha Confederacy.The Bhosle family of Nagpur is known as Hinganikar, named after one of their ancestors, who was likely a contemporary of Maloji, the grandfather of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Bhoslas of Nagpur issued this copper paisa, 9.44g, which features the face of the deity Renuka, the mother goddess whose shrine is at Mahur in South Marathwada.
