Silver Tetradrachm of Indo-Scythian ruler Vonones

Indo-Scythian king Vonones was an Iranian king who ruled Sakastan between 75 BCE and 57 BCE. After sitting on the throne, he ruled over northern India to Taxila and issued coins bearing the title of King of Kings. Vonones was the first rival of Indo-Scythian monarch Maues, who claimed the title of King of the Kings.Vonones issued this Silver Tetradrachm, 9.39g, during his rule. The obverse of this coin depicts the King mounted on a horse to the right, holding a spear with Greek legend around. The reverse of this coin features Zeus standing, holding a sceptre and thunderbolt, kharosthi legend around.
