Base Gold Four and a Half Masha of Gahadavala

The Gahadavala dynasty, also known as the Gahadavalas of Kannauj, was a Rajput dynasty that ruled the kingdom of Kannauj, the capital of Kashi(Varanasi).Govindachandra was the most powerful ruler of this dynasty. He defeated the Ghaznavids and the Palas militarily during his reign. He overcame the Kalachuris of Tripuri as a king and annexed a portion of their territory.
King Govinda Chandradeva(1114 CE -1154 CE) issued this Base gold 4 1/2 Masha, 4.13g, during his reign.
The obverse of the coin features Seated Goddess Lakshmi and the reverse of the coin is inscribed as Srimad Govindchandra Deva in Nagari legend in three lines.
