National Press Day

Every year November 16 is observed as National Press Day to honour the Press Council of India. On this day, Press Council of India assumed the role of the moral watchdog to the fourth pillar of Democracy in the state.The day reminds us about the importance of a free and responsible press in a democratic society like India. The day is dedicated to emphasizing the significance of having a free, fair, and independent press in India.
India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp featuring the newspaper Times of India in 1988. This paper is one of the oldest media of press in India.
