On This Day in 1897, Kotamaraju Rama Rao the Founder-Editor of Lucknow's 'National-Herald' was born in Chirala.He was dubbed as 'Fighting Editor' by Mahatma Gandhi for his time with Sevagram ashram. Atal Vihari Bajpayee even referred to him as the 'Dronacharya of Indian Journalism'
India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp in 1997 to celebrate his Birth Centenary. His Statue was installed in Bapatla in 2019.
