Tipu Sultan's Gold Pagoda of Nagar Mint

Tipu Sultan was the son of Haider Ali, most popularly known as Tiger Mysore. During his rule he made a number of administrative changes, he introduced unique and distinct coin denominations and on some of the coins the Mauludi dating system.On the obverse of this gold pagoda weighing 3.39g bears the inscription 'Huwa As-sultan Al-Adil Sanah' and the Hijri date of 1199. On the reverse Persian letter 'He' with regnal year 3 and the mint name Nagar.
